Fire Station 28
3100 Chimney Rock @ Delores
Houston, TX 77056
The history of the location of Fire Station #28 goes all the way back to 1941, when the first
of it's three "houses" was built at Berry Street near Louisiana. It stayed there for eleven years
until a new house was built for the crew at a different location on the outskirts of the city at
5116 Westheimer, close to the corner of Sage Street.
The construction of this new station was begun in 1952 and completed in 1953 when they moved in,
right across the street from the future home of the now famous Galleria shopping mall which was not
even a dream yet.
In the years to come Houston saw tremendous growth, especially in the area around Station #28.
Eventually the need to relocate again forced the last move the current location. Since 1987 the
Station has been housed at 3000 Chimney Rock near Delores, still in the same general area.
